Our Techniques

Massage
There are many benefits to a professional massage. Our massage therapist is trained and certified in many types of massage. While getting a massage is enjoyed by almost everyone, the purpose of having a massage at our clinic is for more than just feeling good. During the exam procedure, Dr. Edwards notes any areas of muscle tension, spasm, or restricted spinal joint movement. Working under Dr. Edwards’ direction, the massage therapist applies gentle muscle techniques to help reduce spasm, improve circulation, flush tissue congestion, and restore normal tissue elasticity to the problem area or areas. In many cases, this helps to relieve the pain and speed the bodies healing process as well as improving muscle tone and overall spinal mobility. Many insurance companies recognize the benefits of massage and provide for reimbursement. read more»

Nutrition
For the longest time so called "modern medicine" denied that vitamins, minerals, or herbal remedies played much, if any, role in our overall health. However as time goes on it seems that modern medicine is finally coming around to accept what chiropractic physicians and our grandmother knew years ago; what we eat does matter.
Who among us hasn’t heard of eating chicken soup or drinking orange juice when we have a cold or the flu? We now know that chicken soup and vitamin C actually help mobilize the immune system, allowing us to return to health quicker. We also know that a diet high in fruits and vegetables provides us with beta carotene (Vitamin A) and fiber, both of which have a significant role in reducing the risk of cancer.
It wasn’t long ago that doctors insisted that we could get all the vitamins we need from our diet. Our urban lifestyle and our fast-food diet make that impossible. Even fruits and vegetables "fresh from the market" are, in many cases, picked days or weeks before they are ripe and shipped cross-country. Mother Nature is not so easily fooled and we shouldn’t be either. There is just no comparison to vine-ripened in both taste and nutritional quality. Unfortunately, most of us don’t have gardens year round. So where does that leave us? This is where vitamin supplements can and do play a role in our health.
For those that are interested, Dr. Edwards utilizes a computer based blood chemistry program to make nutritional recommendations. Dr. Edwards or one of his trained assistants will take a small sample of your blood and submit it to a nationally certified laboratory for analysis. These findings are then entered into a computer program that compares your findings to a data base of age and gender matched normals. Recommendations are discussed with the patient and a date for follow-up testing is set. This allows both Dr. Edwards and the patient to actually see and measure the improvement they are making.
If you’ve been to a chiropractor before and prefer to be adjusted in a particular way, let Dr. Jim Edwards know. We want you to relax, enjoy and fully benefit from your chiropractic care.
