Introducing Bedford Chiropractor Dr. Jim Edwards

Thanks for visiting my website and giving me the chance to tell you a little about my personal side. I think it’s important for a patient to feel comfortable with the doctor they choose...to make sure it’s a “good fit.” So here goes.

Dr. Jim Edwards, Bedford Chiropractor

Let me start by explaining the photo at right. These are my all-to-soon growing daughters. Allison is on the left and Brennen on the right. They are the joy and light of my life. I am the guy in the middle. I was raised by great parents of modest means, and although they are no longer present in this life, their spirit and influence lives on in me and through my daughters. I was born and raised “out in the country” here in Lawrence County. I graduated from Mitchell High School, and I proudly proclaim “dual citizenship,” since I live in Bedford.

When I graduated from high school, I was not sure exactly where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do. I had given some thought to dentistry, and since I knew I was going to have to pay for college myself, I decided the smart thing to do was to sit out a year and work. So I went to work on an assembly line and built school buses at the old Carpenter Body Works in Mitchell. It was hot, grimy, dirty, back-breaking and honest work. During that year I decided to attend Indiana University and perhaps pursue becoming a dentist.

When I started IU, little did I know that instead of going on to dental school, I would end up attending chiropractic school in St. Louis. That was 20 plus years ago, (seems like yesterday) and, looking back, it was the absolute best career choice for me. This has been the most enjoyable “job” that I could ever imagine.

I’ve been blessed by good health and live a very active and health conscious lifestyle. I watch what I eat and take vitamins and minerals every day. I love to dabble with gourmet cooking and have a weakness for garlic and chocolate—just not in the same dish. I have been a runner for over twenty years and my greatest running satisfaction is running the Boston Marathon. I am also an avid bicycle rider and general outdoors enthusiast. My most recent adventure was a 17 mile trek from the South rim of the Grand Canyon down to the Colorado River and back up to the rim in just over ten hours. It was an incredible experience and beautiful beyond words. Take “majestic” and multiply it times ten and then triple that and it is still not close to describing it.

I’m not sure what my next adventure is going to be, but I’ve got my eyes open!
